Q: Obtaining a handicap
How do I get my handicap?

A: All you have to do is mark three cards on the Hanbury (18 hole) course with another member of Hylands Golf Club. Once you have marked all three cards simply pop the cards into a sealed envelope and hand it into reception (please do not post these as they could get lost!). Please make sure that all cards are dated, display your name and that the card is signed by both yourself and the person who marked it for you. If you do not currently know any other members of the golf club you can enter competitions as a way of getting your cards marked but until your handicap is allotted you cannot win.

• If you lost the first hole you would be ‘One down’, losing the second would make you ‘Two down’ and so on.

Q: Playing in a competition
How do I enter competitions?

A: We have two ways to enter competitions.

Option 1:

Our online fixture list shows all the competitions for the coming year. Approximately two weeks before every competition an Entry Sheet will be placed on the Notice Board within the complex. To enter simply enter your name in an available space. For every competition we reserve tee times from 8 o’clock for the membership to play. On the evening prior to the competition we draw all the names entered on the sheet for playing partners. You can find out your time by telephoning the Complex the night before or simply turn up on the day-but be prepared as your time will be somewhere between 8am to 9am.

On the day you must ‘sign in’ before you play as this registers your intention to participate in the competition and when you finish you must hand your completed score card to reception. We do the rest!

Option 2:

If you have your own playing partners you can play at any time of the day that is convenient to you as long as your card is returned to reception within the rules of the club. These can be found in the club’s Byelaws. Again, on the day you must ‘sign in’.
